FAQ

Liquid CO2 (LCO2) is produced by capturing CO2 emissions from industrial sources, such as power plants or chemical facilities.

The captured CO2 is then compressed to a pressure above 5.18 bar and cooled to a temperature between -56.6°C and 31.1°C. This process transforms the CO2 gas into a liquid state, which can then be transported and stored.

A marine loading arm is a specialized mechanical device used to transfer liquid CO2 (LCO2) from ships to storage facilities. The process involves several key components:

  • QC/DC Coupler: Ensures a secure, leak-free connection to the ship's manifold.
  • Swivel Joints: Provide flexibility, accommodating ship movement.
  • Emergency Release System (ERS): Allows quick disconnection in emergencies.

CO2 is transferred from ships to temporary storage facilities using marine loading arms.

The process involves connecting the arm to the ship's manifold, pumping LCO2 through insulated piping, and transferring it into storage tanks.

The transfer can be configured for low pressure (7 barg at -46°C) or medium pressure (18 barg at -27°C).

From temporary storage, CO2 is then transferred to permanent storage sites via pipelines, where it is injected into geological formations for long-term sequestration.
