The HURL fertilizer plants at Barauni and Sindri in India have both started to produce Urea for commercial sale - the most important stage in their development.

The two plants, located in the states of Bihar and Jharkhand respectively, are each capable of producing 2,200 tons per day (TPD) of ammonia and 3,850 TPD of urea.

First prills of Urea were produced in Barauni on October 18 and in Sindri on November 5.

First commercial sale of Urea was organized by Client on November 7 for Sindri and on November 13 for Barauni.

Ajay Vishwakarma, Project Manager said: I would like to congratulate and thank everyone involved. This has been a moment of pride for all involved in the projects – thanks to the determined efforts of our team members, our consortium partner, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering, and our PMC & Client.

Consortium of T.EN & L&T was awarded the EPCC* contract to complete the natural gas-based fertilizer complexes by Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) in 2018.

The two fertilizer plants are of national importance to India. Both will address the demand for urea in the domestic market and boost economic growth.
