On May 28, 2026, SkyNRG celebrated the groundbreaking of the DSL-01 project in Delfzijl, the Netherlands a project being delivered by Technip Energies.
Once operational in 2028, the plant will be Europe’s first standalone greenfield facility fully dedicated to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production.
During the event, SkyNRG’s CEO Maarten van Dijk said: “ Together with committed partners like KLM, we are building critical infrastructure that will help accelerate aviation’s transition towards lower emissions while strengthening Europe’s sustainable fuel industry.”
The plant will be dedicated to SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) production. Named DSL-01, this project is designed to produce 100,000 tons per annum of SAF using the Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) pathway to process sustainable waste feedstocks.
In February 2026, Technip Energies was entrusted with the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) of the plant. This contract followed the successful completion of the Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) phase by Technip Energies, marking a significant step in the long-standing collaboration with SkyNRG.
Technip Energies’ President Project Delivery & Services, Loïc Chapuis, added: “Sustainable Aviation Fuels are becoming a cornerstone of the energy transition, and we are proud to contribute to Europe’s first standalone greenfield facility dedicated to SAF. This milestone reflects both the strength of our collaboration with SkyNRG and the growing momentum behind sustainable aviation. We are also pleased to see construction progressing strongly, marking an important step toward delivering this pioneering project.”
Sylvain Cabaléry, Chief Commercial Officer, Project Delivery & Services business unit at Technip Energies, stated: “This project confirms Technip Energies’ strong position in the fast-growing SAF market and highlights our ability to deliver large-scale, market-ready solutions across Europe. We thank SkyNRG for their trust and partnership on this strategic project. With over 60% of the world’s installed SAF capacity delivered, Technip Energies is uniquely positioned to support aviation’s decarbonization while creating value in a rapidly expanding market.”
