Technip Energies’ state-of-the art Research Center in Weymouth, Mass., at the forefront of innovation

In April 2026, Technip Energies renovated its Weymouth Research Center, near Boston, Mass., in the US.

The renovation project redesigned laboratories and introduced a dedicated control room. New equipment has also been added.

Wei Cai, Chief Technology Officer, said: “Over decades, our Weymouth lab and pilot center have brought numerous breakthrough process technologies to reality, from catalytic reactions to new sustainable chemicals, biochemicals and biofuels. This state-of-the-art modernization ensures Technip Energies will remain at the forefront of innovation and supports the next generation of sustainable technology development.”

The adaptability and commitment of the teams meant research continued uninterrupted during the renovation.

Assisted by 10 automated pilot plants and analytical instruments which remained operational, they progressed projects including Bio2Glycols™, Pure.rOil™, Hummingbird® and ethylene technologies.

The final phase of the modernization includes additional technical enhancements, wet lab renovations, exterior painting, and upgraded lighting and floor markings in the pilot plant area.
