Technip Energies, a leading Engineering & Technology company for the Energy Transition, has taken possession of its new headquarters in Paris, France.

ICADE's Origine project, selected in 2017, is a real estate program of over 70,000 m2 located in Nanterre, just behind the Grande Arche de la Défense. Inspired by reef shapes, it was designed by architects Maud Caubet and Donatienne Jannel of Quadri Fiore, and built by BATEG, a subsidiary of Vinci Construction France.

An innovative and eco-responsible structure
The innovative, eco-responsible architecture of this project reflects Technip Energies' environmental ambitions right down to the design stage, with the use of environmentally low-impact materials, including a unique eight-story wood/concrete structure, the adoption of low-carbon energy sources (geothermal energy, photovoltaic panels, 100% green electricity contract), and the creation of 4,730 square meters of green space.

The building stands out for its environmental qualities, recognized through the environmental certifications and labels awarded by leading French and international organizations (HQE, BREEAM, LEED BIODIVERCITY, E+C-, WELL).

An architecture adapted to new ways of working
The interior design of the 51,000 m2 building, which is fully in line with changing work styles, is specifically adapted to the "project" spirit which is the DNA of Technip Energies. The perfect balance between the surface area dedicated to workstations and the many common areas will encourage collaborative work and an ease of exchange between employees, such as the showroom, the four business centers and the "Knowledge hub", a 500 m2 conference space and new services such as the fitness center, the three restaurants, the concierge service and the wellness areas, not to mention the terraces and patios.

This layout is the result of a collaborative process between management and employees initiated at the start of the project and conducted in three stages between 2018 and 2020 to define the concepts and workspaces most appropriate to everyone's needs:

  1. Determine the main design principles based on numerous site visits, benchmarks, meetings with experts, internal studies, manager interviews and collaborative workshops.
  2. Gathering the needs and specificities of each department and project to design the detailed plans of the workstations.
  3. Testing in-situ, on an entire floor of the Adria Tower, the new work spaces. More than a thousand pieces of feedback from the test teams allowed us to make improvements to the furniture and interior fittings.

On this occasion, Arnaud Pieton, Chief Executive Officer of Technip Energies, declared:

"At a time when Technip Energies is writing a new chapter in its history, we have made it a point of honour with Icade to ensure that our new headquarters in France reflects, through its design, composition and construction, the leading role we play in energy transition. Our goal is to also make Origine a workplace in tune with the times, in line with changes in the way people work and with our DNA as engineers. This project is the result of the concerted efforts of all the teams since 2018 to provide space on a human scale that encourages communication, team work, conviviality, performance and innovation. Origine is a project done by the teams, for the teams and to better serve the teams. I would like to thank them for their active participation and great enthusiasm."

Origine will welcome nearly 2,500 employees of the group based in Paris La Défense as of September, once the interior work is completed.
